The ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors business offers high-performance opto semiconductor components and in-depth support for state-of-the-art system solutions based on innovative semiconductor light sources. The Business Unit can look back on almost fifty years of production and development expertise.

Your new responsibilities

  • Research of causal reinforcement learning and model-based reinforcement learning for process optimization within a research project
  • Implementation of data pipelines, algorithm development and prototypical implementation of the researched methods
  • Supervision of the research project and organisation of the exchange with project partners
  • Contribution to the research group&'s activities, give presentations at conferences and meetings of the local AI community, etc.

What we look for

  • Master degree in data science, mathematics, computer science, physics or comparable scientific studies
  • Experience in machine learning, especially Reinforcement Learning and/or Causal Inference
  • Profound knowledge in a programming language, preferably Python
  • Strong ability to work in teams and highly motivated
  • Analytical skills, rapid comprehension and an interest in semiconductor topics
  • Very good knowledge of English in verbal and written form

You’d like to apply for job on our global Job Board? Or submit an unsolicited application? We look forward to receiving it! From submitting your online application to being accepted for a job, there are a number of steps to be completed which we would like to illustrate here.

Chronological order of the steps of your application

1. Job search

Your dream job is posted on our Job Board? The link provided in the job description at the bottom of this page takes you to our Applicant Portal. You haven't yet been able to find a suitable position and would like to submit an unsolicited application? – Then just create your candidate profile on our Applicant Portal. We can send you job alerts to inform you of positions which match your profile. You just have to enter the relevant information in the boxes provided. While creating your profile, you'll be asked about “job-specific preferences”. Here you can define the job families or jobs you’re interested in, as well as your preferred locations. And once you’ve saved your profile, we suggest suitable positions as soon as these become available.

2. Online application

Just register on our Applicant Portal. Afterwards, we provide you with your login data. In the application form, you just have to fill out a small number of boxes. In addition, this is where you can upload important documents such as a cover letter, your CV and work references/certificates/school reports. Please make sure that you have the most important application documents ready and prepared. In your CV, you should refer to the requirements stated in the job post and demonstrate to ams OSRAM why you’re the ideal candidate for the position. Your cover letter is where you can introduce yourself to us and give us a first impression. You’ll receive an automatic acknowledgement once your application has been successfully saved to our Applicant Portal. It usually takes two to four weeks until your documents have been individually checked by HR and the specialist area.

3. Telephone interview

If your profile matches the position to be filled, we’ll soon invite you for a telephone interview.

4. Your first face-to-face interview

You’ve sparked our interest! Now we’d like to get to know you in person and invite you for a first face-to-face interview. This is when your prospective future manager and the recruiter are available for you to discuss opportunities for you at ams OSRAM, as well as your competencies and professional experience. You can of course also ask questions about the job, the team, and ams OSRAM. Make sure that you are well prepared for the upcoming interview: You should be able to tell us why you’d like to join ams OSRAM and why you’re the ideal candidate. The first face-to-face interview usually takes place one or two weeks after the telephone interview.

5. Your second face-to-face interview

If we both agree that the first interview went well, you'll be placed on a shortlist. You’re very likely to be invited to a second interview: In many cases there is now a need to discuss organizational and other questions in detail. The second interview usually takes place two weeks after the first face-to-face interview.

6. Hiring

Everyone in agreement and all the contractual matters settled? - Welcome to ams OSRAM! The employment contract is usually concluded one or two weeks after the second face-to-face interview.

7. Onboarding

We’re pleased to welcome you on your first working day. With our onboarding activities we proactively support you in finding your way through the ams OSRAM world. You’ll thus soon be able to fully focus on your new projects and tasks.
